Rotterdam

Finally i am free to continue my travel log. This is the continuation of my summer vacation after Amsterdam.
Rotterdam , Europe's largest port and second largest Dutch city , is nothing less than Amsterdam. A city vibrating with energy , boasting with a plethora of aesthetically unique architectural masterpieces , and buzzing with beehives of activities at the port.
It's a totally different experience compared to Amsterdam. Less tempting and seductive as Amsterdam , yet alluring in its own sophistication.

The Overblaak development , designed by Piet Bloom , is another must-see here in Rotterdam. The cube apartments are something we can find nowhere else in the world. You will just be amazed by how far our imagination can run.

12 hours before my flight. My last night at home. My last blog before flying.

It has been a long summer vacation. 2 months of non-stop eating , non-stop playing , non-stop traveling , i think i am all ready and fully recharged to take up the challenge that's about to unfold.

Non-stop eating. I think that's the must-do during holidays. After a year of craning and craving for Malaysian cuisines to be general , Kuching food to be specific , i think i have compensated all my yearns and urges for them to last me for another year. I have been eating kolo mee , laksa , nasi lemak , char kueh , kueh chap , bbq fish almost everyday to an extent of satiating every single taste bud that i have. And of course with all these high calories , high cholesterol dishes , there's no surprise that i have gained another few kg over this holiday. Time to hit the gym again!!

Non-stop playing. Yeah , like what Angelia said , her semester actually starts tomorrow after i fly back. Hehehe...Their new semester started 2 months ago , coinciding with the time i came back. But when i am around , there's too much of distractions. It's all about watching movies , eating , karaoke-ing , shopping etc etc. It's play , play and more play since day 1 until day 60.

Non-stop travelling. I have been traveling around for the whole past 2 months. Even before staying long enough to keep my bed warm , i have flown to KL to meet up with friends. From KL to Genting then back to KL again. After that i was back home for 2 weeks before flying off again. This time to JB to attend Razin and Mal's wedding. From JB we were off to Bali for family holiday. And i headed straight to Damai Puri one day after i landed in Kuching from Bali. Which left me with about 2 more weeks in Kuching before bidding farewell again.

And here i am now. Getting ready to go to bed. Going to miss my room. Miss my home. Miss Kuching. At the same time , anticipating for a new term to start in Palacky , to meet my friends back in Olomouc , and for whole new excitements in Olomouc...

Dear Friends...

Sometimes i do wonder , is there any set of criteria that befits how a 22-year-old should behave. If there are , then i think we really do not conform to any of them. Hehe..When friends are together , you will think of all the craziest , stupidest , crappiest things to do. Oblivious of how others see you , you are all immersed in your own fantasy land. That's why it's well worth the money to buy the flight ticket , flew all the way to KL to meet up with them , even though just for a few days. There are certain things which money just can't buy - sweet memories.Having said that , this friendship is no smooth sailing all the way. It's built on labyrinths of love , entangled with personal affairs , occasionally mesmerized with sheds of tears. As it doesn't come easily , it is held more preciously.
That fire of friendship should be kept burning , though not always that furiously , but someone should take the initiative to rekindle it whenever it dims. That's what we call eternal flame...

Love is in the air...

Finally , the day has come... The much awaited wedding of the year has arrived.

Anticipation for this glamorous golden-themed wedding has been growing ever since the day Mal and Razin announced their wedding plan. Who is getting married now? Hamsath or Mal? I guess friends are more emotional and excited than the couple themselves.hahah

So here i am in JB finally to witness and celebrate this auspicious occasion. Preparations were made as early as early this year. Gold colour is chosen as the theme of the wedding , every spot glowing , every corner shining , well reflecting perkahwinan yang gilang gemilang.

Everything for this big day is impeccably done. And of course not without the help of this 3 musketeers...hehe..
Even goodies bags are glowing for attention...
From getting the goodies bag packed to setting up the pelamin , all the way to picking up the wedding dresses , Ajeem is involved first-handedly to help (or to mess around). Hahaaa..No matter what , no one can do the job as penyeri perkahwinan(if there is such a job) better than him. KudosssAnd here comes the wedding day. The akad nikah ceremony is held at Mal's place. Friends and family members from both sides are there to witness this historic moment. And nothing beats this moment captured in photo... The union of two entities now termed husband and wife.We wish Mal and Razin happily ever after.....

Back in Kuching

I am back in Kuching for more than a week already. I thought this is the good time for me to blog. I have loads of photos to be uploaded , a lot of experiences about my trips to be shared , and a lot of views to be penned. But sadly and frustrating enough , Streamyx here sucks... Even getting online is sometimes a problem , not to mention uploading photos.
I guess i can only do so when i am back in Czech. I have photos dated all the way back to April about my trip to Berlin , then May to Budapest and June to the Hague , Rotterdam , Antwerp , Brussels and Egypt. What to do , have to wait patiently...
Speaking about my holiday here , i must admit up till now ,nothing great or exciting enough that is worth sharing has happened. Firstly , most of my friends are no longer here in Kuching. Everyone is back for new semester. Secondly , i am still adapting to our Malaysian weather. Ok la , this is not "poyo". "Ceh , konon-kononnya orang pergi belajar kat oversea , balik Malaysia dah komplain komplain..." It's true la , after staying there for 10 months and then coming back home , the heat and humidity is killing me. I take bath on average 5 times a day. So i am too lazy to go out during the day. Thirdly , apart from eating , eating and eating , i don't know what else can i do here in Kuching.
Hoping for greater fun and excitement for the rest of the holidayssss.... Please.....

Amsterdam - Sightseeing

Of course , the Netherlands is not only famous for its Red Light District and Marijuana. Amsterdam has even more to offer-its scenic canals , beautiful , heritage-protected 17th century buildings and also some of Europe's best museums.

Tulip - the flower synonymous with Holland. Too bad the tulip blossoming season was over the time i was there. Anywhere , no harm paying a visit to the famous floating floral market along Singel canal. What is left are wooden tulips for souvenirs , and also buds of tulip which you have to plant it yourself.
And the 17th century buildings here are so unique. Packed closely together , each with its own distinguished architecture , the whole view seems as picturesque as those portrayed in paintings. I guess it's not just adults X-rated theme park , it's also artist's dreamland for inspiration.

And of all these , this house at 7 Singel Street is the narrowest house in the world ,with its width of about 1 meter...And the Dam square is the heart of Amsterdam , with beehives of activities going on everyday , day and night.

And talking about open-mindedness , i think this is another eye opener. Imagine this stand is for peeing. Worst of all , there's no flush , no water tabs , nothing. And these stands are everywhere in the city. One thing i like about Amsterdam - the laid-back , no frills lifestyle. Maybe that is what i see. Basking in the sun , sipping a cup of cappucino and chatting with friends.
Or picnicking in Vondelpark. They really know how to enjoy life. ..
With so many canals here , the best way to explore the city is by taking a boat ride. And we chose the cheapest options , boat-pedaling.
The only museum i visited in Amsterdam - Van Gogh Museum.
