Malaysian Dreamgirl

I just finished watching the 1st episode of Malaysian Dreamgirl at www.malaysiandreamgirl.tv. My response - dissappointed , both with the contestants and one particular judge , Kenny Sia.

Of course not all the contestants are that dissappointing. I particularly like Jean and Adeline. I think they do have the whole package , in terms of height , feature and fashion sense. Some girls had just committed too much of fashion faux pas so unbearable for the eyes to see , what more to say to go public.

Of course i am no fashion guru. But this are just my humble opinion. Fashion is not about wearing everything you like at the same time. You are not one Christmas Tree with all the decorations hanging around you , all at the same time for X'mas. And it's just common sense that colour combination is one crucial factor. And too much of floral patterns just make you look nothing but another Flower. So i guess simplicity is still the best policy. You are there to showcase yourself , not to be overshine by that plethora of colours on your clothes.

But there's another thing about the judge. I like Kenny Sia's blog. It's always witty and interesting. But for him to be a judge , hmmm... Ya , he has his own judgement on pretty girls. But fashion model is not like any pretty girl you come across on the street. Ya , it's true that when the girl appeals to guys in general , she will most probably appeal to the client. BUT , a model is supposed to adorn and sell the client's clothes , so of course their body figure , body frame , height should be taken into consideration. If you are a judge of Playboy magazine , that might be a different story.

And he should watch his words when he commented about the girl's fashion. Ya , it's always nice to have one devilish judge and one angelic one in reality show. But commenting a skirt like it is from the rubbish bin and a blouse like it is a mamak stall table clothes is very offensive. I find the skirt and the blouse lookable , it's only the wrong way of mix and match. And i guess such comment is also very disrespectful of the designer.

And Kenny makes the whole show look very Playboy-like audition. It does not seems like a professional model search with all his hoo-haa on seeing girls with skimpy clothes. Girls...you don't have to dress scantily to look sexy . Sexiness is not just about flashing flesh. That's LALA type of sexiness like what Elaine mentioned. Sexiness should be one that's provocative , revealing some yet covering the others , leaving some mystery and curiosity behind.

I think a model doesn't have to be pretty. But she does need to have certain features. Height and body figure apart , facial feature is of utmost importance. Face is the first thing we see. So at least one feature on the face should have the selling point. It's not just pretty face. Maybe the cheekbones , the voluptuous lip , the twinkling eyes , the sharp nose , the chiseled jaw bone....

Hopefully the 2nd episode will be much better. Looking forwards to seeing it soon...
